Summary
Floor tile - Design 27 - Fragment - This design is the mirror image of design 25. The tile has veined leaves in an arcade with trefoil pendants at the bottom of each arch. Above this is a dotted band. The edges are straight to slightly bevelled. Part of a 16 tile set with designs 24, 25 and 26. Early 16th century, possibly 1520. (Group B – Burnett-Brown Tile Collection Report). One of two parts of a tile and this is the left side. The tile part is in very good condition. The vast majority of the slip is present and a good amount is covered by glaze. There are patches of glaze around the tile but it is most concentrated along the left side. There is a big patch of glaze along the left edge. This is the largest piece and therefore has all of the single, central scoop on the reverse.
