Summary
Floor tile - Design 15 - The design depicts a band of stylised rosettes within circles in the bottom left corner. The rest of the design has large stylised seaweed like foliage. The tile has a straight to slight bevel edge and a single central scoop in the reverse. The glaze is light olive over the slip and olive glaze over the body. Potentially late 15th to early 16th century. It is part of a 16 tile set with designs 14, 16 and 17. (Group C – Burnett-Brown Tile Collection Report). The tile is in a fair condition, with most of the design visible. The glaze and the slip have nearly completely worn away along the left side but the slip is present around the rest of the tile. There is very little glaze left on the tile, but it is most visible as yellow patches on the slip. The red clay is very visible around the whole tile. In the bottom right corner there is a narrow cut on the top. On the reverse is a single central scoop.
