Summary
Floor tile - Design 15 - The design depicts a band of stylised rosettes within circles in the bottom left corner. The rest of the design has large stylised seaweed like foliage. The tile has a straight to slight bevel edge and a single central scoop in the reverse. The glaze is light olive over the slip and olive glaze over the body. Potentially late 15th to early 16th century. It is part of a 16 tile set with designs 14, 16 and 17. (Group C – Burnett-Brown Tile Collection Report). The tile is in a fair condition, with some of the design visible. There are patches where the glaze and slip have completely worn away, particularly the top right corner. The bottom right corner still has a good amount of slip. There are small patches of glaze across the tile. There is a fair amount of glaze along the left edge. On the reverse is a single central scoop.
