Summary
Civil uniform sword with decorative etched blade including an inscription near the hilt reading: H. POOLE/ & Co./ SAVILLE ROW/ LONDON. Has a golden hilt with cast gilt-brass mounts (gilt rubbed), an oval shaped guard, scrolled cross-guards and a gold wire bullion sword knot wrapped around the knuckle-bow. Blade is unsharpened and is rusted at the tip. Part of a Royal Household uniform worn by George Abraham Gibbs as King George V's Treasurer of the Household 1921–1928. From wardrobe in Lord Wraxall's Bedroom. Found stored in large, flat tin trunk NT17229.
