Summary
Locomotive plate. An oval, brass maker's plate from a railway locomotive, no.1561, built by Neilson & Co. in 1870. The plate has a polished brass surface with inscribed lettering, and there are traces of red paint within the inscriptions. There are two fixing holes. The locomotive is a 0-4-0WT, which was No.1 at Beckton Gas Works, Essex, and is now preserved at Penrhyn Castle. The locomotive now carries replica maker's plates.
