Summary
Painting. An oil painting on canvas, head-and-shoulders portrait of Sir William Morgan, KB (1700 - 1731), British (English) School, 1725. Sir William Morgan of Tredegar, wearing a blue velvet coat and the Ribbon of the Bath. His right hand is tucked inside his coat. Within a carved, gilded frame with shell and floral carvings and punched decoration in between and a carved site edge of acanthus leaf.
Provenance
Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
