Summary
Painting. An oil painting on canvas, half-length portrait of the Archduke Albrecht, Archduke of Austria (1559-1621), after Sir Peter Paul Rubens (Siegen 1577 - Antwerp 1640), 17th century. Against a red background, he wears a silver embroidered doublet, vest and a large 'mill-stone' lace ruffle. A gold chain around his neck bears the Order of the Golden Fleece. It is a copy of the original painting in the Kunsthistorisches, Vienna. Within an oil-gilded, Regency style frame.
Provenance
Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
