Summary
Painting. An oil painting on canvas, seated portrait of Elizabeth Windham, Lady Morgan (1615 -1666) dressed in orange, with her Grandson Thomas of Tredegar (1664 - 1699) on her lap, wearing blue and white, inscribed: Anno1665, Aet. 50, British (English) School. Previously called Elizabeth Windham, Lady Morgan (d.1666) and her Son, William Morgan (1640 - 1680) or Rachel Hopton, Mrs Thomas Morgan (1590 - 1629) with her Daughter Elizabeth Morgan, later Lady Williams (1626-1679). She faces to the left, with two roses held in her left hand.
Provenance
Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
