Summary
Oil on canvas, Portrait of a Lady in Saffron Silk, possibly the Right Honourable Lady Elizabeth Harcourt, Later Lady Lee (1739-1811), English School, c. 1740-50s. A three-quarter-length portrait of a young woman, standing, facing, turned to the right, against a landscape background. The sitter has reddish blonde hair and blue eyes. She wears drop pearl earrings, a gown of saffron-coloured silk and a cream chemise. The sleeves of the gown are gathered above the elbow and fastened with pearls. A blue flower-shaped bow with a pearl at centre is at the breast. A pink silk shawl is draped over her proper left forearm and held in her proper right hand. She holds a posy of flowers in her proper left hand.

Probably Pendley Manor, near Tring, Hertfordshire; Private collection, Texas, USA; Anthony Mould Gallery, London; purchased by the National Trust in 2025 for Hartwell House, with the support of an anonymous donor.
