Summary
Oil painting on canvas, An Unknown Lady in an Orange Dress with a Lap Dog, follower of Sir Godfrey Kneller (Lübeck 1646/9 - London 1723), previously attributed to Herman van der Myn (Amsterdam 1684 - London 1741), circa 1735/40. A three-quarter-length portrait, standing by a stone balustrade, wearing a gold-coloured dress, an urn to her right, an obelisk beyond.
Provenance
Became the property of the National Trust, by donation, with all profits henceforward benefiting the houses and the charity, from Historic House Hotels Ltd and all its interests in Hartwell House, Bodysgallen Hall and Midddlethorpe Hall, in September 2008
