Summary
Floor Tile - Design 13 – The depicts a heraldic design, with a stag trippant (facing right) between three phaeons with a bordure engrailed, and stylised flowers in each corner. These are the arms of Archbishop Parker of Gloucester Cathedral. The fabric of the tile has straight sides or only a very slight bevel, plus a light green/yellow glaze over the slip and dark olive glaze over the body. (Group C – Burnett-Brown Tile Collection Report). The tile is in stable condition as much of the design and imprint has worn away. A small amount of slip remains along two edges but no glaze remains. The remaining slip, which includes the one stylised corner flower, makes the design identifiable. There is a large incision in face of the tile. On the reverse is a single, central scoop.
