Summary
Floor Tile - Design 12 – This design is depicts two and a half rosettes five petalled with granulated centres) in a row, set within double bands above and beneath rosettes. There is also seaweed type foliage in the top left and bottom right of the design. The tile has a straight bevelled edge and a single shallow scoop in the reverse. This design has been made in two colours - either light and dark olive or red/brown and yellow. This design is part of a 16 tile set with designs 18 and 19, and another currently unidentified tile in the centre. (Group C – Burnett-Brown Tile Collection Report). The tile has only very little green and yellow glaze remaining in patches on the raised areas, but almost all of the slip is gone. The tile is badly worn but the design is still visible via the impression of the stamp. Some glaze remains on three edges.
