Floor Tile - Design 7 – Fragment - This design shows two dolphins either side of a tulip shaped vase with scorpion tail rising to the right. Fimbriated rosette at the bottom left hand corner plus part of arc and swag foliage. Olive green glazed body with a light green /creamy yellow slip inlay. There is a shallow central scoop on the reverse of the tile. From a collection of designs of tiles commissioned for Lacock Abbey by William Sharington. Manufactured between 1550-3. These are part of a set with designs 1(or 2), 3, 6, 8, 28 and 31.(Group A – Burnett-Brown Tile Collection Report). The fragment is in good condition and is the right side of a tile. Most of the slip remains but it is a little patchy at the edges and small patches are glazed. On the body, there are patches of glaze across the fragment. There is glaze along the outer edge.
