Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Painting (The Arts) by François Boucher (Paris 1703 – Paris 1770), 1758. The art of painting is represented here by two cherubs or cupids seated upon a cloud, one of whom is shown in the act of drawing. One of them holds a portfolio, in which the second is making a preparatory red chalk drawing. A painter's palette is next to the book on the right hand side.
