Summary
Saucer, from a partial Sèvres porcelain tea service for two (déjeuner), including Oval tray with handles (plateau ‘du roi’), a teapot (théière Calabre) and two cups and saucers (‘gobelet litron et soucoupe’): painted with still-life of flowers in a vase with fruit on a table, in medallions on a beau bleu or bleu nouveau ground, surrounded by oak leaf and acorn bands in gold, circa 1770. Marked with interlaced ‘L’s and with ‘B’ for the gilder Jean-Pierre Boulanger.
Provenance
Purchased by Ralph Dutton in June 1961, ‘Sèvres Cabaret set, panels of flowers, Gros bleu ground’ from Montague Marcussen Ltd., Antiques & Works of Art, 98 Crawford Street London, for £210. (fol.127). Claimed from the estate of Ralph Dutton, 8th Baron Sherborne by his sister, Hon. Joane Dutton, 1985. By whom bequeathed to the National Trust for Hinton Ampner House, 1988.
