Summary
Sugar bowl, part of a set with cover (sucrier), soft-paste porcelain, painted with an oeil-de-perdrix band composed of pale blue dots centering a gold dot between gilt borders with alternating medallions of pink roses within gilt bands and pansies within a green wreath suspended from pink bow, above scattered flowers and a berried laurel band, marked with interlaced ‘L’s enclosing the date code ‘cc’ for 1780, painter’s mark ‘nq’ for the flower painter Niquet and ‘2000’ for the gilder Henry-François Vincent. Made by the Sèvres porcelain factory, France, 1780.

Sugar bowl, part of a set with cover (sucrier), soft-paste porcelain, painted with an oeil-de-perdrix band composed of pale blue dots centering a gold dot between gilt borders with alternating medallions of pink roses within gilt bands and pansies within a green wreath suspended from pink bow, above scattered flowers and a berried laurel band, marked with interlaced ‘L’s enclosing the date code ‘cc’ for 1780, painter’s mark ‘nq’ for the flower painter Niquet and ‘2000’ for the gilder Henry-François Vincent. Purchased by Ralph Dutton in December 1962, ‘Sèvres sucrier & cover oeil de perdrix sprays of flowers, 1780’, from H. R. Marden King/The Old Cottage/Kingsworthy/Winchester (on paper label) for £40. (fol.183). Claimed from the estate of Ralph Dutton, 8th Baron Sherborne by his sister, Hon. Joane Dutton, 1985. By whom bequeathed to the National Trust for Hinton Ampner House, 1988.
