Summary
[Saved] Oil painting on canvas, Foote Onslow (1655-1710) in the manner of Sir Godfrey Kneller (Lübeck 1646/9 - London 1723), inscribed with name of sitter etc. 1709. A three-quarter-length portrait, seated, turned to the right, gazing to the right, long brown wig, dark coat with gilt buttons, holding a roll of paper in the left hand. Father of Speaker Arthur Onslow.
Provenance
Purchased by the Ministry of Public Building and Works in 1963 from the 6th Earl, Transferred to the National Trust in 1977.
