Summary
[Destroyed in the fire of 2015] Tapestry, wool and silk, ‘After the Indian Manner’, John Vanderbank, c. 1700-1710. A tapestry with a red and blue pavilion, islands surrounded by water, and a number of small figure groups in oriental dress, including bird catchers, warriors, pedlars, and a mandarin surrounded by attendants, arranged on a tobacco-coloured ground enclosed by a narrow dark brown border with a pole entwined with polychrome summer flowers.
