Summary
Oil painting on panel, presumed to be Anne Fettiplace, Mrs. Henry I Jones, British (English) School, inscribed: AETATIS SUAE --/ ANNO DNI 1614/ NON EST MORTALI QUOD OPTO - "It is not the mortal part for which I opt". . 1614. A three-quarter-length portrait of the eldest daughter of Sir Edmund Fettiplace of Childrey in Berkshire, standing turned slightly to the left, gazing at the spectator, wearing a black and white dress with cut sleeves and rosettes at the breast and shoulders; laced ruff and headdress. Black pear-shaped earrings. Forearms folded across her waist. She holds a pendant watch and its key suspended from a black ribbon in her left hand. She was married to Henry Jones I in August 1609 and bore him thireen children between 1619 - 1633.
