Oil painting on panel, Portrait of Lord Burghley, manner of Marcus Geeraerts, the younger (Bruges 1561/2 - London 1635/6) This well-known likeness shows Lord Burghley as a venerable man. Head and shoulders slightly to right. He wears a black gown trimmed with brown fur, and holds a white wand in his right hand. He has a small muslin rug, and close black velvet cap with a jewel in the front, and a white beard.
