Summary
A large pine chest, Northern European, circa 1700-1750. The hinged lid above a frieze applied with four corbels and a central arched trompe l'oeil panel flanked by raised panels within geometrically-moulded borders, with a triple-panel drawer below, on plinth, evidence of red paint. This chest is just visible in situ in the Country Life article of 31 December 1943 entitled 'Cobham, Kent : Owletts' by Christopher Hussey.
