Summary
Oil painting on panel (oak), A State Barge and other Shipping near the Shore (after Abraham Storck) by Ranelagh Barrett (fl.1737 – London 1768). War vessel at centre left with fishing boats and small boats full of figures. Signed. Probably one of the pictures introduced by Admiral Lukin. The attribution is based on an old inscription formerly on the back of the frame. Barrett/Barwick was a very celebrated copyist.
Provenance
Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)
