Caption
Storck never seems to have visited Malta, and this capriccio (fictional view) appears to have been based on a drawing made in 1664 by a fellow Dutch artist, Willem Schellincks (c.1627-78), for the topographical collections of Laurens van der Hem. This painting’s pendant, depicting the port at Livorno, is also at Felbrigg.
