Summary
A musical box, c.1870's. A square walnut box with bone inlay stringing and a plain shield. Metal catch, slider and stop. Four bun feet. Labelled on inside of lid 'Polyphon' and a design of four putti playing instruments. The mechanism is inscribed 'Polyphon, Tempo Regulator Mechanism'. Some teeth are broken.
Provenance
Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969).
