Summary
Print, mezzotint, Sir Cloudesley Shovell (1650-1707) (after Willem de Ryck) by John Smith (Daventry 1652 - Northampton 1743). Three-quarter length standing portrait of a naval man in full wig, wearing a breast plate over a decorated coat and linen collar and cuffs, right hand leans on a globe and a telescope in left hand, ship in far distance. Crest and text below the image. Mezzotint. Black and gilt frame, mounted and glazed. Inscription ' Sir Cloudislly Shovell, Knight, Rear Admiral of the Red on board their Majesties' Ship the Royal William in ye late defeat given to the French and also Lieutenant Coll of one of their Majesties' marine regiments.

Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)
