Summary
Oil painting on canvas, View Towards Capo Miseno and Procida, by Tommaso Ruiz (fl.1740), signed bottom left: Tomaso Ruiz F., circa 1740/55. From a set of five Neapolitan views probably bought by Sir Matthew Fetherstonhaugh on his Grand Tour. Nothing is known of Ruiz, whose name suggests a Spanish origin. (NT/UPP/P/141a, c, d are others in set. One was destroyed in 1989).

Presumably by Sir Matthew Fetherstonhaugh when he was in Italy, 1749-51; purchased by the National Trust from the Trustees of the late R.J. Meade-Fetherstonhaugh, Esq. in 1978
