Summary
Oil painting on canvas, A Cavalry Skirmish, attributed to Lambert de Hondt the elder (Mechelen/Malines before.1620 – after 1678), bears signature: D.TENIERS (indistinct, below white horse). A fight between two groups of horsemen takes place at the right; a man on foot is fleeing to the right; in the distance another skirmish is going on, and beyond that is a village. De Hondt was a battle painter from Mechelen who worked in this manner. With Tenier's signature which is false.
