Summary
Part of a baby's christening gown (open robe) and petticoat - Christening gown. Cream satin (pink selvedge with four metal threads) Gown; Bodice with pintucks, back opening with three pairs of ribbon ties, deep cuffed sleeves. Skirt pleated onto waist, open at front, decorated at front with serpentine fringe and tassels of looped silk fringe and fly fringe. Bodice lined with linen. 1760 - 1770 (circa)
Provenance
Reputed to have been made for first Marquess of Anglesey (born 1768) although family has no knowledge of gown - but date and quality would fit.
