Summary
Oil painting on canvas, George Throckmorton (1721-1762), attributed to George Knapton (London 1698 – Kensington 1778), inscribed GEO.THROCKMORTON ESQr. SON OF/ Sr. ROBt. THROCKMORTON BART. DIED 1762, circa 1740/45 A half-length portrait of George Throckmorton, to right, in pale blue coat, white lace cravat and cuffs and pale lavender cloak. He points with his right hand to a pastel portrait of a sleeping girl that he holds with his left. George Throckmorton was the eldest son of Sir Robert Throckmorton, 4th Baronet by his 1st wife. He married Anna Maria Paston, thus acquiring Molland, Devon.
