Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir Francis Throckmorton, 2nd Bt (1641-1680) by Gerard Soest (Soest c.1600 – London 1681), signed: Soest pinxit, circa 1672. Inscribed, top right, in gold lettereing: Sr FRANCIS THROCKMORTON BARt/ DIED 1681. A head-and-shoulders portrait, to right, of the son of Sir Robert Throckmorton (d.1680), in grey cloak with white cravat tied with a red ribbon in a bow and long flowing full-bottomed wig. Sir Francis restored the house, much damaged during the Civil War when it was besieged by Parliamentary forces.
