Summary
Ice pails (pair), soft paste porcelain, bucket shaped with low spreading foot, upright sides and scrolling ledge handles, Derby Porcelain Works, ca 1780-1800; painted with a central spray of roses in pink and green enamel, line of underglaze blue around the foot overlaid with a gilt looping border, underglaze blue scalloped border to upper body, outlined in gilt, from which a band of naturalistically painted flowers and foliage issue, including cornflower and primula, a band of repeating stylised enamelled blue feathers around the rim, between two plain gilt bands.
