Summary
Oil painting on canvas, A Lady in Pink and an Attendant, style of Sir Peter Lely (Soest 1618 – London 1680), 17th century. A three-quarter-length portrait of a woman, to left, in pink satin dress (the varnish makes the dress appear silver), accompanied to her right by a male attendant. He is dressed in a white satin shirt with a band of red and gold decoration, a red sash draped across his left shoulder, and a pearl earring in his right ear. He is using a knife to cut the stem of a bunch of grapes from a vine. The woman holds the stem of a loose bunch of grapes in her right hand and there are two peaches on the table in the foreground on the left.
