Summary
Oil painting on canvas, The Reverend John Walrond (d. 1769) of Barnstaple, British (English) School, mid 18th century. A painted oval, half-length portrait of the Reverend John Walrond. A label on the back of the painting identifies the sitter as Mary Parminter's maternal grandfather who married Mary Peters of Cullompton. The Reverend wears a black coat with a black silk waistcoat and a white cravat with two translucent neck bands, the left band partly obscured by the neckline of the coat. He wears a white, mid-length wig.
