Provenance
The flower and fruit paintings on canvas came into the Cartoon Gallery at a later date than the grotesque scheme. Bridgeman's Sketch of Knole, published in 1817, mentions that the Brown Gallery set of paintings once sat in the Cartoon Gallery and were removed when the Cartoons were brought to Knole in 1701. By 1723 the flower paintings formed part of the Cartoon Gallery scheme.
