Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Elizabeth Colyear, Duchess of Dorset (1686-1768), attributed to Hans Hysing (Stockholm 1678 – London 1753). A full-length portrait of a young woman, wife of Lionel Cranfield Sackville, 7th Earl and lst Duke of Dorset (1688-1765), the great grandson of Mary Curzon, daughter of Sir George Curzon Bt of Croxhall, whom she married in 1709, standing, turned slightly to the right, gazing at the spectator, holding the gold tassels of cloak, she is wearing a white dress with the skirt embroidered in gold under her scarlet robes trimmed with ermine. Her coronet is on a table on the right, which is covered with a green velvet cloth with a gold fringe. She was the daughter of General Walter Philip Colyear and niece of Sir David Colyear, lst Earl of Portmore (d.1730).
