Oil painting on canvas, Lionel Sackville, 1st Duke of Dorset (1688-1765) by Sir Godfrey Kneller (Lübeck 1646/9 - London 1723), in black mid-right: G. Kneller Bart 1717 (GK in monogram); in yellow back-left: LIONEL CRANFIELD SACKVILL / DUKE OF DORSET / &c. A full-length portrait of a man, turned slightly to the left, gazing at the spectator, his left hand on his hip his right hand holding his plumed hat, his left leg thrust forward in a pose, he is wearing a powdered wig and full coronation robes, white stockings with Garter, the Garter chain and Garter badge on his blue cloak. He stands on a checkered floor.
