Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Edward Sackville, 4th Earl of Dorset, K.G (1590 – 1652), after Sir Anthony Van Dyck (Antwerp 1599 - London 1641). A half-length portrait, turned to the left, gazing at the spectator, ruddy complexion, brown hair falling to a love lock on his left shoulder tied with a red bow small tidy moustache and pointed beard, wearing armoured breastplate over a scarlet jerkin with gilt embroidry and gilt buttons, a shoulder lace collar and the Order of the Garter suspended from a blue ribbon. Dark background.
