Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Unknown man, historically called King Philip, King of Spain although this is highly unlikely. In the manner of Justus Sustermans (Antwerp 1597 - Florence 1618), 17th century. A full-length portrait of a young man, turned slightly to the left, gazing at the spectator, his right hand on his hip and his left hand leaning on the hilt of his sword, short, curly light-brown hair, wearing a black doublet and trunk hose, an embroidered waistcoat, white ruff and cuffs and white shoes with black bows. In an interior with a table on the left, covered with a scarlet, gold-fringed cloth on which sits his black hat with gold decoration, green velvet curtain drawn back from left to right and wrapped around a stone pillar on the right, revealing a distant horizon with trees and hills.
