Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Elizabeth Sykes, Mrs Wilbraham Egerton (1775-1843) by Sir Thomas Lawrence PRA (Bristol 1769 – London 1830), begun in 1805. A three-quarter-length portrait, seated in a maroon velvet dress and orange scarf, holding flowers. She was the second daughter of Sir Christopher Sykes, 2nd Bt and married Wilbraham Egerton in 1806.
Provenance
Probably recorded in the executor's list as 'not 1/2 finished' and recorded in the Coutts list as painted for Miss Sykes at a price of £84; bequeathed by Maurice Egerton, 4th Baron Egerton of Tatton (1874 - 1958) to the National Trust with the house, gardens and contents of Tatton Park
