Summary
Vase, one of a pair, earthenware with tin-opacified lead glaze (Delft), of guglet bottle form, painted in cobalt blue after Chinese mid-17th century Transitional period models, with scholars and courtiers between lappet bands, marked with ‘JK’ for Johannes Knotter, De Porseleyne Flesh, Delft, the Netherlands, c. 1685-1700.
Provenance
The 1909 Heirlooms at Tatton inventory records ‘15 Blue and White Delft Vases over bookcases in the library’ and acquired by Earl Egerton.
