Oil painting on canvas, Lucy L'Estrange, Lady Astley (1699-1739) by Thomas Bardwell (East Anglia 1704 – Norwich 1767), signed, in yellow, bottom left: Bardwell f and inscribed at top, in large flowing white script (probably late C18th): Lucy L’Estrange First Wife / of Sr Jacob Astley Bart. A half-length portrait, wearing a gold dress and blue cloak. The artists Heins and Bardwell worked in competition in Norfolk. She hangs next to a portrait of her husband, Sir Jacob Astley, 3rd Bt. by Dirck Heins.

Second daughter of Sir Nicholas L'Estrange, 4th Bt, MP and Anne Wodehouse, daughter of Sir Thomas Wodehouse of Kimberley, Co. Norfolk, and first wife of Sir Jacob Astley, 3rd Bt (1692-1760).
