Oil painting on canvas, Animals sheltering in a Storm by Anne Margaret Coke, Viscountess Anson (Holkham Hall 1778 – London 1843) after Philip James de Loutherbourg (Strasbourg 1740 – London 1812), original was at Rossie Priory. Cattle, goats at the right and a donkey and foal in a landscape on a stormy day with figures sheltering beneath rocks and trees at the left.
Provenance
Transferred to the National Trust with Shugborough’s park and contents of the state rooms, in part-payment of death-duties to the Treasury, following the death of Thomas, 4th Earl of Lichfield (1883 - 1960)
