Summary
A pair of Meissen Ecuelles (broth bowels), each with its own separate cover and stand. Made in hard paste porcelain, the quatrefoil shaped bowls with ‘ozier’ (basket)-moulded decoration, the covers with a lemon spray and leaf finial, painted in colourful enamels with Watteauesque figures in a garden landscape, scattered naturalistic flowers and gold line bands. Meissen, circa 1748-55. Meissen crossed swords makers mark in blue enamel on the base of the Ecuelles and the stands.
