Summary
Oil painting on canvas, John Wynne (1667-1743), Bishop of Bath and Wells, British / English School, circa 1730. A half-length, turned to right, wearing a white powdered periwig and episcopal robes. Index Card: Professor of Divinity 1705, Principal of Jesus College, Oxford 1712, Bishop of St Asaph 1715, Bishop of Bath and Wells 1727, married Anne Pugh 1720, purchased Soughton 1732. Great-grandfather of William Bankes, who inherited Soughton in 1815. The portrait at Jesus College, Oxford, was presented by William Bankes in 1821.
