Summary

Oil painting on canvas, John II Bankes, MP (1692-1772), by George Dowdney (fl.1730s), inscribed on the back: '1733'. A painted oval half-length portrait, facing right, wearing a wig, a white stock and a blue jacket. The artist restored many of the pictures at Kingston Lacy in 1731.

By inheritance by his brother, Henry II Bankes, and thence by descent, until bequeathed by Ralph Bankes, 1981
