Oil painting on canvas, Alice Bankes, Lady John Borlase (1621-1683) by Sir Anthony van Dyck (Antwerp 1599 - London 1641), circa 1637/40. A three-quarter-length portrait of the eldest daughter of Sir John Bankes; standing beside a plinth with a vase of roses, wearing a white dress with a blue shawl held to her body with her right hand.
Provenance
Presumably given to the sitter's father, Chief Justice Sir John Bankes (1589-1644), and thence by descent until beqeathed by Ralph Bankes, 1981
