Summary
A marquetry inlaid olivewood table box on a later walnut stand, English, part late 17th century. The hinged lid inlaid in quadrants with floral marquetry of stained holly and bone, the sides with conforming inlay and fitted with a later drawer, raised on a later base, 1838, of four twist turned columns, quad form plinth and down swept legs. This altered box on stand can be identified in the Kingston Lacy records as the 'marquetrie Table made to your own top with new drawer, twisted pillars ebony and ivory bosses'. Supplied in June 1838 by Nixon and Son of Great Portland Street, London.

Supplied in June 1838 by Nixon and Son of Great Portland Street for Pnd. 12. Bequest of the estates of Corfe Castle and Kingston Lacy made to the National Trust by Henry John Ralph Bankes (1902-1981). NT ownership commenced from 19th August 1982.
