Summary
Print, copper etching and engraving, Omnia Vanitas (after Titian) by Johann Gottfried Seutter (Augsberg 1717 – Augsberg 1800), after a drawing by Valentin Lefebvre (c.1642-c.1680), after a painting in the manner of Titian - a copy of which is also at Kingston Lacy, NT 1257116, and in Glasgow Museums (190). Inscribed: No12 and lettered beneath image with production detail: Tiziano Vecellio invento, e depinse; below: Valentino le Febre disegnò - Appo Innocente Alessandri e Pietro Scattaglia Venezia - Gottifredo Saiter scolpi. A nude female figure reclining on a couch, upon which are a crown and a sceptre; the woman looks up towards a board hanging from a chain and bearing the words 'Omnia Vanitas'; on the left, smoke coming out of a large metal vase; drapery at left, and landscape in the background.
