Summary
A lapis lazuli and enamel seal set with the monogram of King Edward VII (1841-1910) in diamonds, c.1905, English. The plain tapered lapis lazuli pedestal applied with a rose diamond set cypher for King Edward VII with enamelled gold Imperial crown surmount, the gold base enamelled in white and further decorated with bands of rose diamonds, the lapis lazuli stamp engraved with the monogram MHG for Margaret Helen Greville. Original fitted case by Collingwoods.
Provenance
The bequest of Margaret (Anderson) McEwan, The Hon. Mrs Ronald - later Dame Margaret - Henry Fulke Greville, DBE (1863-1942) from probate records linked with the donation of the property to the National Trust in 1943. This item found on the record for Polesden Lacey miniatures and small objects in the strong room, page 116.
