Summary
A GEORGE III GOLD-MOUNTED GLASS SCENT-BOTTLE, CIRCA 1760-70, baluster-shaped glass flask with flattened base, the faceted glass embellished with a pierced gold cagework chased with c-scrolls, rocaille and flower-swags, the base of the glass wheel-engraved with a putti above two doves and the inscrption 'RIEN DE SI DOUX', chased gold s-curve shell-shaped stopper with chain, London, c. 1760-70. For the original shagreen/leather case, see 1247548. Previously identified as a Louis XV glass scent flagon, mounted with gold cage work chased with flowers, 1715-1774. Box is item 1247548.

The bequest of Margaret (Anderson) McEwan, The Hon. Mrs Ronald - later Dame Margaret - Henry Fulke Greville, DBE (1863-1942) from probate records linked with the donation of the property to the National Trust in 1943.
